El Tor SWRO Desalination Plant – 30,000 m³/d - South Sinai, EGYPT

Project description

The project involves the construction of a desalination plant with a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters per day in Al Tur, within the framework of the program of EGYPT for the development of the Sinai Peninsula.

The project encompasses the necessary works for supplying the desalination plant with electricity and the installation of pipelines with diameters ranging between 500 and 800 millimeters for transmission of the desalinated water to storage tanks in Al Tur as well as pipelines with diameters ranging between 200 and 500 millimeters for transmission of water from those tanks to the residential settlements.

EcoBusiness Scope

         ESIA: Conduct full ESIA with baseline data, impact prediction, and mitigation planning per national/international standards.

         Compliance Framework: Prepare ESMP and all regulatory submissions aligned with EEAA, SPA, and permitting authorities.

         Marine & Coastal Baseline: Perform seawater, sediment, benthic, and marine ecology surveys in intake/outfall zones.

         Brine Modelling: Use hydrodynamic modelling to predict dilution, mixing, and impacts on sensitive marine ecosystems.

         Environmental Assessments: Evaluate terrestrial/marine ecology, groundwater vulnerability, air quality, and noise emissions.

         Socioeconomic & Stakeholder: Assess community, fisheries, tourism, and livelihood impacts with structured stakeholder engagement.

         Operational & Monitoring Plans: Develop waste/chemical management, emergency/spill response plans, and long-term monitoring/auditing programs.
