Damietta Furniture City (DFC) is Egypt's first and largest national project, a massive industrial complex in Damietta designed to centralize and modernize the country's furniture industry, housing hundreds of workshops, factories, a tech center, and marketing facilities to boost production, formalize the sector, create jobs, and increase exports by providing integrated support and infrastructure.

EcoBusiness Scope

         Prepared the environmental baseline profile covering air quality, noise, soil, water resources, and existing land use.

         Assessed cumulative impacts of industrial furniture-manufacturing clusters on air emissions, wastewater loads, and solid-waste generation.

         Evaluated demand and capacity for infrastructure services including water supply, wastewater treatment, power, and transportation.

         Conducted socio-economic assessment focusing on employment, community interactions, and potential resettlement concerns.

         Analyzed environmental risks related to hazardous materials handling, wood-processing chemicals, and fire safety.

         Reviewed proposed masterplan options for environmental compatibility and spatial planning efficiency.

         Studied air dispersion scenarios to assess emissions from planned industrial activities and proposed mitigation measures.

         Assessed impacts on biodiversity and terrestrial habitats within and surrounding the project footprint.

         Developed strategic mitigation measures, environmental design guidelines, and sustainability enhancements.

         Prepared the SEA report including monitoring framework, institutional arrangements, and compliance with Egyptian environmental regulations.
